The seat of the Sinclair family since the 11th century, the castle is mainly in ruin following a number of attacks & fires between the 15th & 17th centuries. It can now be hired as accommodation via the landmark Trust.This view shows the narrow entrance to the castle, originally a drawbridge, which was built in stone centuries ago. The River North Esk loops around the rock on which it is built.
